APRIL SHOWERS' HEALING POWERS
Cool Shower Treatments For Warmer Weather

Do you always take HOT showers? Why not try cooling off in the upcoming warmer months? When the temperature outside raises above 70°F, turn the water temperature down in the shower so that it feels COOL to your skin — not cold, necessarily... just cool.

"Now... WHY would I want to do that?" you might ask...
Here are some answers:

  • Cool showers help to increase circulation to the skin and thus throughout the body
  • Cool showers help reduce blood pressure on internal organs
  • Cool showers strengthen the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems, helping you to feel more relaxed in uncomfortable situations, like taking a cold shower ;o) and stimulating digestion
  • Cool showers encourage the body to contract the muscles, thereby eliminating toxins and metabolic wastes
  • A cool shower can be refreshing on a hot summer day!

Who could benefit from taking cool showers? Well - almost everyone, but here is a brief list of who could and who shouldn't:

  • Anyone seeking pain relief may benefit from taking a cool shower - this process of "toughening" can help you tolerate temperature extremes better, thereby helping you reduce pain felt by cold
  • People who have difficulty differentiating between temperature extremes should not engage in the taking of very hot or very cold showers
  • If you suffer from Raynaud's disease, please do not engage in cold application
