"THUMBS
UP" FOR
INVIGORATING FACIAL MASSAGE
How To Increase Your Productivity AND Your
RelxationLevel at Work Simultaneously
An energizing
facial massage is a great way to de-stress and unwind. The
following technique shows you how to perform the massage on yourself,
which means you can do it in the comfort of your own home at your
leisure. It
is also a great thing to do at your desk at work if you are a
chronic computer user since it will help to relax your eyes, head,
face and neck, which can all get tense as a result of computer
use.
Facial
massage also stimulates blood flow and brain cell activity,
so if your boss thinks you're just goofing off tell him or her
that you are boosting your productivity, and they'll leave you
alone. If you ARE the boss, then everyone already thinks you're
weird, so what do you care! Actually - sharing these techniques
with your co-workers and employees could win you the "Thumbs Up"
award because everyone will feel so good afterwards! And when
they ask you where you learned this, you can point them towards
Bodymind Massage Therapy!
Step
1: Getting comfortable
-
Wash
your hands - this will prevent the spread of germs and dirt.
-
Find
a quiet place if possible, either lying down or seated. Take
a few deep breaths. If you wear glasses, remove them.
-
Rub
your hands together vigorously to warm them and loosen any stiffness
with a gentle shake before beginning your massage.
Step
2: Head tapping: 1 minute
Step
3: Forehead swipes: 10x each side
-
Next
flatten both hands with your palms facing you and hold them
at forehead level. Your elbows should be relaxed and pointing
downward.
-
Turn
your head from left to right, alternate swiping the forehead
with the fingers of the left and right hand. It should be your
head that is moving and not your hands.
Step
4: Circle the eyes: 10x cycle
-
With
the hands still at eye level, now make loose fists while placing
the thumbs on the cheekbones ( "thumbs up" sign).
-
Starting
at the bridge of the nose, firmly draw the knuckles of the index
fingers in an arc across the eyebrows and down the outside of
the eye.
-
Then
once again starting from the bridge of the nose, this time draw
the knuckles in an arc beneath the eyes on the crest of the
cheekbones.
-
If
you're feeling particularly coordinated, you can try one hand
above the eye and one hand below, always moving outward from
the nose towards the cheeks, to give a nice stretch to the bridge
of the nose.
Step
5: Palming the cheeks: 10x each direction
-
Once
again open the hands and place the palms over the cheekbones.
-
Firmly
draw the palms down towards the mouth, then continue along the
bottom edge of the jawbone.
-
Follow
the line of the jaw upwards, to just in front of the ears, then
in along the cheekbones completing a cycle.
-
You
can also reverse the direction of the movement.
Step
6: Throat pull: 10x each hand
-
Lowering
the hands to neck level, we will now extend the thumbs and curve
the fingers slightly.
-
Using
very light pressure place one hand on the throat, and pull directly
forward while closing the thumb and forefinger so that you tug
gently at the skin as your hand slides off. This should not
be painful or uncomfortable.
-
As
the first hand slides off, the other hand is rising to repeat
the process. With practice, you can achieve a steady rhythm.
-
In
addition to feeling the pressure on your throat and neck, can
you feel a nice little tug on your ears?
-
Next,
and starting at the tops, rub the ear firmly between your thumb
and index finger. Continue down to the lobe covering the entire
ear.
-
Finish
your energizing facial massage by giving the earlobe a firm
tug, then the middle of the ear, and finally the top. Repeat
the ear tug three times.
-
Finally,
cool down by gently shaking out your hands and taking a moment
to feel how relaxed and energized you've become.

PAMPERED
CHEF OFFER EXTENDED
Special Earlybird Holiday Offer from Bodymind Massage
and
The Pampered Chef Extended Through End of November
Congratulations
to everyone who took advantage of this special offer last month!
I look forward to seeing you when you come to pick up your
gifts and to get your massage! But
we've extended the offer since a few people didn't want to think
about the holidays until after Halloween - so here's the information
once more:
Wouldn't
it be so easy to have all of your Holiday gifts wrapped for you
and ready to pick up at one central location? Of course it
would. And wouldn't it be spectacular to get a massage while you
are at it? Not only won't you have the stress of poorly ventilated
shopping malls (I can't breathe!) and gigantic parking lots (where's
my car!?) and frantic crowds (I was here first!), but
you will have the added benefit of being even more relaxed once
it is all said and done.
Get
all your Holiday shopping done with
a special combined offer from
Bodymind Massage Therapy
and The Pampered Chef.
Purchase any
Pampered
Chef item in November for a December pick-up at
Bodymind Massage Therapy. If you choose, it will be gift-wrapped
for you at no extra charge. You will also be eligible for 5%
off the regular price of any and all Bodymind
Massage Therapy gift certificates purchased when you pick
up your order - even bulk packages that are already discounted,
as well as a coupon for 5% off
your next massage at Bodymind, whether it is on the
day of your pick-up or you can use it another time.
