Unitarian Universalist Church in Middletown, NY

Children and Religious Education

Children are important to our congregation, from naming and dedication services for children of the congregation, to religious education programs.  Children are included during the first part of Sunday services – sometimes the exchanges that may take place during this part of the service may surprise the parents, but it is never dull!

The size of the current congregation does not allow for a full range of classes for each age group, and the number of children in attendance at any week varies according to the schedule and needs of the families.  Nursery care is available for the youngest children, while there is a combined program for the older children.  As registration permits, more classes will be added; in some years there have been two classes for older and younger children.  There is a coming-of-age program for young teens, which involves a more concentrated study, mentoring with an adult, and the completion of an individual credo statement.
